      Snowy’s Cage

Today for the third time, I introduced Snowy and Gwen. Snowy is Mrs. O’s cage mate. He hasn’t had a mate since Mrs. O passed on in March. He didn’t take readily to Gwen though. The first intro was brief, and filled with trepidation on my part. For a while, they hissed at each other, and Snowy a usually placid bird, tried to attack Gwen. Today it seemed to go better. Snow and Gwenny ignored each other for the most part. I still wouldn’t trust them together and plan to get her a new cage at Bird Jungle soon.

     We’re also not sure if Gwen is a male or female, which may account for some of the aggression on Snowy’s part. Ira the owner of Bird Jungle said that 2 males can get along in the same cage as long as they are not aggressive. Snowy is usually the sweetest, calmest and most placid bird. So we can’t seem to figure out what’s causing his aggression towards Gwen. We have another male cockatiel named Stormy who is just in love with her. Can you figure it out? Well, I’d say they got a long pretty much today and ignored each other, but I still wouldn’t trust them together. Well, Gwen is sitting on my knee as I write this. I’m going to go pet her now. Hi everyone,

Welcome to Gwen’s new blog! This is Gwen’s new home on the ‘net for everything Gwen!

Let me first start off by introducing myself. My name’s Marissa Manzino. I am a singer/songwriter. Guitarist from New York. I am 26 and live with my wonderful parents. Our lives are blessed with winged angels. We are owned by five birds: Pepper the Rose Breasted cockatoo, Sprite the African Finch, Snowy the cockatiel, Stormy the cockatiel, and yours truly Gwen the cockatiel! This blog is dedicated to our 2 cockatiels that have since passed on Sunny and Mrs. O.

     Gwen came home On Saturday, June 2, 2007. It was one of the happiest days of my life. After the loss of Sunny and Mrs. O, I wanted another bird to bond with. Sunny and O were really my birds, and I still miss them terribly. Gwen has a personality all her own. She is mischievous, fun-loving, and curious, makes me laugh, whistles, chirps and is a real sweetheart. She was born sometime in February; I have to select a birthday for her. I hope she likes the one that I pick. She is 5 months now and I can’t imagine my life without her. She is a Pearl mutation which is gray, brown or white markings that look like pearls. The males have yellow faces, and the females have gray ones. I will post a picture soon. She is wonderful. I just wanted to introduce Gwen and will write more soon. Have a wonderful day!
